US President Joe Biden said that the July non farm employment report exceeded expectations, indicating that economic policy is playing a role. He urged Congress to push through legislation to spend trillions of dollars on public works, education and other priorities.
The U.S. Department of labor previously released data showing that non farm employment increased by 943000 in July, exceeding the median expected of 87000 economists surveyed by Bloomberg. Driven by economic growth, the unemployment rate fell by 0.5 percentage points to 5.4%.
Biden said his policy would prevent schools, businesses and society from stalling due to the recent spread of delta mutants.
